Tonight, I Sleep
tonight i sleep long and deep.
tonight i dream.
in my dream i am walking down a road paved with Hope
in shoes of Idealism and Naivety.…the funeral
hot wind
breathing heavy on my face
as it runs through my hair;
desperate to escape.…sunset
i gaze out the dirty, third floor window
of my high-rise apartment,
watching in silence as the sweating sun
kisses the midnight sky,…Riverbed
i am standing in a River flowing sdrawkcab.
wetness creeps up my pantlegs
as Water spits and splashes around me.
my eyes are shut,…just drive
the Sun is low on the horizon,
large and deep orange,
heavy like a balloon full of water
about to burst.…untitled
i am aquarius.
i like to lick empty envelopes and mail them to timbuktu (where-ever that is)
because i imagine their world to be very different from my own
(maybe sunny and scattered with patches of sand).…alone with you
silence lets unspoken words expand
filling every inch of breath
with awkward insecurities.
a dream dies best in silence,…a day in the Life
Sunlight streaming through the holes of my soul
blinding stagnant morals left behind
from days of innocence and ignorance.
Each beam dances on my spirit…untitled
I feel the rhythm of the train
rumbling through my veins,
tempo taking over
until my heart beats in time.…the paint ball
blue that reaches.
blue that seeks the very end.
pink that fades into the water blue.
yellow lingers on…a Linear kind of love
i love in Circles
blissangst angst
bliss
but cry in infinite L i n e s.…i. am. tired.
the world has worn me ragged
and i am tired. i am exhausted.
people tearing and ripping, gnawing and biting,
breaking my heart into pieces,…depth in perception
choose one word to describe yourself:
Infinite.
i hate those quizzes,
the ones that ask you to describe yourself in Fragments.…untitled
everyone says it's a game or a dance—
i think its inevitable,
a cycle—
like weather or the food chain.…untitled
my darling, the night pervades me
as dreams unlived disrupt my sleep.
tonight, i ask for more than words:
just hold me in your arms…vanity
sitting at the dresser
eyes trapped in the mirror
staring. wanting...more.
but nothing changes.…torrential rain
yellow light breaks over everything,
it's warmth singeing the skin.
people racing to escape,
taking shelter in the shadows,…untitled
sunlight streaming through the holes of my soul,
blinding stagnant morals left behind
from days of innocence and ignorance.
each beam dances on my spirit,…untitled
i hear the footsteps of my unborn children
pit-pat on the cold, linoleum kitchen floor
soft and pink and covered in mud
dark red clay mixed with tears from heaven…sticky sweet sexy summer
i like to walk barefoot on burning asphalt.
naked feet hopping over ragged stones,
searing sunshine pouring through every gap,
hot, sweating skin & the smiling sun upon my back…untitled
a dense red fog surrounds my mind
pervading every thought that threatens to emerge.
my heart sits tied in knots—
twisting and pulling—…minimum wage
time has no meaning
when i walk in that back door
and put a nametag on my turquoise polo,
my ball and chain.…Milky musings
chalk marks the spot—
a shooting at the Waffle House.
pancakes & laughter
friendship smeared with butter…untitled
leaving, no matter how welcome it may seem,
is hardest tonight.
i think it's the potential,
what could be, what only just began.…The Last Dance
The rolling curves of her emerald dress
glimmer in the strobe lights
which dance a figure-eight across the floor.
Hips swaying to the steady rhythm,…illuminating
sitting at my desk, cold and metal,
the recycled memories of long-dead trees
sleeping blankly before me,
my mind wanders.…i seem to remember
i seem to remember his lips
a ghostly touch, too idyllic
and red—like the color of my cheeks
as his hand enveloped my face…The facsimile is a fake
count breaths
2…3…
watch their eyes
their lips…dream deep, my darling
in her dreams there is a boat
and water bluer than a clear day sky.
gently the waves lap up
beating on the sides of the boat like a tambourine,…dear john
i spent this semester wandering in a fog
with only one desire—escape.
then you—
warmth and joy, comfort and ease,…untitled
standing in the middle of the road of Life,
trembling, i close my eyes.
inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.
opening to see the same menacing road.…
